Alexis Charpentier (also known as DJ Lexis) is the founder of the Music Is My Sanctuary (MIMS) platform, whose mission is to discover and exchange music on a more human scale.
MIMS is now one of the most respected independent sites in the world and through all their projects he advocates the importance of musical "curation" in an era where algorithms and internet giants too often dictate the diffusion of culture.

Through articles, interviews, radio broadcasts, mixes and events (MIMS organizes the worldwide event 24 Hours of Vinyl), the MIMS team works to democratize music, which is often ignored by the mass media. They are currently developing a musical curating service for companies, also highlighting exhibitions and partner events.
Alexis will be at Chromatic to share details of the MIMS adventure and their upcoming projects as well as his personal experience as a DJ and music curator for various projects.

Alexis Charpentier

Alexis Charpentier (also known as DJ Lexis) is the founder of the Music Is My Sanctuary collective and website founded in 2007 in Montreal which is dedicated to the discovery and sharing of music. For over 15 years, he has been a pillar of the Montreal music scene as a DJ and event organizer. He also works as a music consultant for various brands and businesses.
He was recently featured by the TED conferences on the cultural role of record collectors, musical archivists and the importance of music curation on a human scale. The conference has since been viewed by 1 million people and is available in 18 languages.
In addition, Music Is My Sanctuary has also launched other projects such as the 24 Hours of Vinyl event series which has travelled in 9 cities as well as regular events and radio sessions with London’s Worldwide FM and Montreal’s Phi Centre.
In these times where the content we consume is largely shaped by algorithms, his mission is to reposition the human at the centre of music discovery and exchange.
