about

Presented by Galerie Galerie

Born and working in Montreal, Jules Leloup Mayrand is interested in the boundaries between the private and public spheres in virtual spaces; he questions the possible identities and responsibilities that anonymity brings online, thus trying to reconnect with sincerity in media / web art despite an increasingly cynical internet world.
-
His art is an attempt to break out of the self-referential and sardonic habits of digital art.
-
Jules explores the creation of spaces as a translation of the creative space into the exhibition space. In a DIY approach, he makes dialogue mediums as multiple spatialization tactics - in his installations, video, modeling and 3D animation, video games, programming and sound experimentation rub shoulders.
-
My room, space, furniture, and poorly 3D modeled objects is offered virtually to you and to too many actors and actresses of the art world. Falsely intimate and virtually public, There is too many people at this exhibition, also this is my room (2017) reflects on our relationship to our places of life - which are often, for lack of means, our places of creation, thus distancing them from their initial function as place of rest.
